An Empirical Study. Emerging Trends in E-Commerce

A Field Study to Evaluate Trust and Security Parameters for Online Consumers in Online Shopping and E-Banking

Just as today's economy is a mixture of old and new, similarly, marketing pattern is a hybrid of the traditional and the modern. The traditional marketing competencies have established their deep roots since the time immemorial, however, new technological competencies have also been absorbed in the market to add potential for growth. As 'trust' forms a background for the growth of e-Commerce, therefore, a field study has been conducted in order to explore the patterns of trust and security for consumers in 'e'-marketing.

Central Banking and Monetary Management in Islamic Financial Environment

Continuous growth in Islamic finance calls for an in-depth study of the framework in which the monetary policy maker (i.e., the central bank) performs its functions. Central banks in Muslim countries are using various instruments for monetary policy purpose including interest rate. As a result, Islamic Financial Institutions (IFIs) are facing issues in benchmarking the price of financial instruments. Acceptable solution to benchmarking lies in the presence of a real economic activity in the base of any proposal and its feasibility for business performance when put against conventional banking. This paper presents empirical evidence of statistical equivalence of nominal GDP growth rate and official interest rate for 'advanced,' 'all,' and some Muslim countries. We propose nominal GDP growth rate as benchmark for pricing domestic financial transactions of IFIs as well as for pricing external bilateral/multilateral loans. The paper also suggests nominal income targeting as monetary policy regime and provides a liquidity management mechanism for banking system in Islamic financial environment.

A History of Islamic Schooling in North America

Mapping Growth and Evolution

This insightful text challenges popular belief that faith-based Islamic schools isolate Muslim learners, impose dogmatic religious views, and disregard academic excellence. This book attempts to paint a starkly different picture. Grounded in the premise that not all Islamic schools are the same, the historical narratives illustrate varied visions and approaches to Islamic schooling that showcase a richness of educational thought and aspiration. A History of Islamic Schooling in North America traces the growth and evolution of elementary and secondary private Islamic schools in Canada and the United States. Intersecting narratives between schools established by indigenous African American Muslims as early as the 1930s with those established by immigrant Muslim communities in the 1970s demonstrate how and why Islamic Education is in a constant, ongoing process of evolution, renewal, and adaptation. Drawing on the voices, perspectives, and narratives of pioneers and visionaries who established the earliest Islamic schools, chapters articulate why Islamic schools were established, what distinguishes them from one another, and why they continue to be important. This book will be of great interest to graduate and postgraduate students, researchers, academics, teaching professionals in the fields of Islamic education, religious studies, multicultural education curriculum studies, and faith-based teacher education.
