Group Politics and Social Movements in Canada, Second Edition updates and expands its exploration of a wide range of organized group and social movement activity in Canadian politics. Particularly distinctive is the inclusion of Quebec nationalism and Aboriginal politics. Secara etimologis, istilah politik hukum adalah kata terjemahan dari bahasa Belanda rechtpolitiek yang berasal dari dua kata, recht dan politiek. Recht berarti hukum. Kata politiek dalam kamus bahasa Belanda memiliki pengertian beleid. Kata beleid dalam bahasa Indonesia memiliki arti kebijakan (policy). Dengan demikian politik hukum bisa diartikan kebijakan hukum. Adapun kebijakan sendiri dalam bahasa Indonesia berarti rangkaian konsep dan asas yang menjadi garis besar dan dasar rencana dalam pelaksanaan suatu pekerjaan, kepemimpinan dan cara bertindak. Dalam hal ini politik hukum dapat diartikan rangkaian konsep dan asas yang menjadi garis besar dan dasar rencana dalam pelaksanaan suatu pekerjaan, kepemimpinan dan cara bertindak dalam bidang hukum.
