Buku ini ditujukan untuk para mahasiswa maupun marketplace Bukalapak untuk merancang strategi promosi penjualannya dalam rangka membangun e-WOM dan mendorong pengambilan keputusan konsumen. Bagi mahasiswa buku ini diharapkan dapat dipakai sebagai salah satu sumber bacaan untuk mempelajari dan memahami tentang aplikasi dari konsep tentang promosi penjualan untuk membangun e-WOM dan mendorong pengambilan keputusan konsumen. Juga dapat memberi inspirasi kepada mahasiswa untuk mengembangkan ide-ide penelitian yang berkaitan dengan topik ini. Bagi marketplace Bukalapak, buku ini bisa digunakan untuk mengembangkan strategi promosi penjualan secara lebih baik.

Aset-aset perusahaan dalam bentuk aset tidak berwujud atau dikenal dengan istilah intellectual capital (IC) atau modal intelektual atau disebut juga sebagai kapital intelektual (KI) mulai dikenal dalam terminologi korporasi pada tahun 1990 an. Istilah book value untuk menggambarkan nilai aset-aset berwujud (tangible assets) dalam suatu organisasi, dan market capitalization yang merupakan penjumlahan book value dengan aset-aset tidak berwujud (intangible assets) dipergunakan secara luas dalam penilaian merjer dan akuisisi. Menurut laporan Ocean Tomo, dari 500 perusahaan internasional yang diperingkat oleh Standar and Poors (S&P) memperlihatkan bahwa komposisi keuangan perusahaan- perusahaan tersebut didominasi oleh intellectual capital yang mencapai 90% total nilai pasar perusahaan.
